Simplified access and faster decisions: Enhancements to online application and underwriting experience


Enhanced registration: Most customers will qualify* for this updated method to access their online applications, customer portal, and Electronic Policy Delivery via a personalized URL (PURL) link. This provides a simplified interface and personal authentication requiring only a One-Time Passcode and SSN verification.

  • Since launching on May 1, the success rates of accessing online applications have improved from 75% to 95%. This reduces the need for customers to contact Protective for assistance during the online access process.
  • The PURL is unique to each customer and will be sent via text and/or email.
  • Once accessed, the One-Time Passcode will be sent via text or email based on the customer's preference.

Underwriting updates: The underwriting process now offers an improved experience for agents and clients. Term policies ($1 million and under, ages 18 to 50) now qualify for accelerated underwriting more frequently, and Protective Velocity streamlines everything from submission to commission for quicker results.

  • Since launching on May 1, the throughput of accelerated underwriting has doubled, resulting in significant improvements in decision-making and cycle times.
  • Medical and risk question verbiage** was simplified, making the application process faster and easier to understand.
  • Internal underwriting efficiencies were implemented to support quicker decision-making.

Straight through processing/instant issue

Since the enhancements on May 1, the number of cases eligible for instant issue has more than doubled.

  • Eligible ages are 18-60, applicable to all Universal Life and Term products for drop ticket only.
  • These changes enable policies to be issued at a faster rate than before, aligning with our commitment to our customers.

*Not available for New York customers.
